It’s time once again support the annual Tour d’Apple bicycle ride in Hendersonville, North Carolina, on Monday, September 7, 2026, as part of the North Carolina Apple Festival.

Amateur radio operators are needed to assist with event communications throughout the day. Volunteer assignments include riding in SAG vehicles and staffing rest areas to help stranded cyclists, relay information, and support a safe and enjoyable ride.

Communications will primarily use a 2-meter repeater and APRS. A mobile radio is recommended, although handheld radios should work in many locations.

The ride begins at 8:00 a.m. Volunteer reporting and duty times will vary based on assignment, with additional details provided closer to the event. Operations are typically complete by approximately 3:00 or 4:00 p.m.

This is a great opportunity to practice real-world event communications, test your equipment, and serve the community.
